What is B Wildered?

B Wildered is the ultimate fitness challenge. Test yourself to the limits on Glanageenty’s rugged hills, mountainous terrain, natural obstacles and other obstacles.  It will be tough, it will be muddy, but most of all it will be FUN!

What is the Fundraiser for?

B Wildered – The John Lenihan Wilderness Challenge is a fundraising event for Ballymacelligott GAA Club. The club recently purchased a juvenile training field and the proceeds from this event is to help develop this field into a training pitch for the young boys and girls in the parish. Ballymacelligott have currently over 400 juvenile members in the club. The club is expanding their Ladies section and have this years gone from only having 2 girls team u12 and u14 to having 4 teams from u10 to u16’s.  The club are greatly appreciative of your support.

How do I register for the Race?
You can registration for the challenge online or download the postal application form from our web site.

There are limited places available so register now not to be disappointed.

What is the distance breakdown?
BWildered is a 7.5km route incorporating natural obstacles and lots of surprises along the route!

 

What is your refund policy?
When entering the event it is part of the terms and conditions that it is a non-refundable and non-transferable payment policy.

 

When is it on?

Saturday30th April 2016 at – Challenge start time 11.00am

 

Location?

Glanageenty Woods are located just 3km from the N21 between Tralee and Castleisland.  Travel northwards from the N21, using O’ Riarda’s Bar (Purple Bar) as a landmark.

From Tralee on N21 – At O Riadas Bar take a left turn

From Castleisland on N21 – At O Riadas Bar take a right turn

Continue until you reach a T junction- Turn Left

Continue along this road until you reach next right turn signposted Walking Trail – follow the road all the way up the hill until you reach the Farm Yard of Tom Herlihy. The route will be signposted and stewarded on the day to assist you.

It is 3km from the main N21 road where you turn off at O Riadas Bar to the farm yard of Tom Herlihy where the event is taking place.

Give yourself plenty of journey time …allow for delays and parking.

Ideally you should be arriving at the yard one hour prior to your start time.

 

Entry Fee?

Early Bird – Register before midnight on Sunday 24th April 2016

Individual        €35      Group of 4       €120

Registrations from Monday 25th April, 2016

Individual        €40      Group of 4       €140

Places are limited so book early.

Postal Entry to be received by Wednesday 27th April 2015.

 

Registration Fee includes:

  • Finisher’s Customised Medal.
  • Fully Marshalled Route.
  • Water Stations along the route.

On the Day Registration?

Registration desk opens Saturday morning at 9.00am -10.30am
You are required to sign in on the day at the Registration Table one hour before your wave time.
You will be allocated a specific wave time and this will be sent to you on Friday evening.
You will proceed to warm up and then you will be transported to the start line.

Parking?

There is parking facilities for up to 500 cars on site so please follow the signposted route.

There will be road officials en route also to guide you.

What should I wear?

Wear light clothing that dries quickly.

If it is a cold day, heavier clothing will not dry and you will be colder when all is said and done. Gloves are by personal preference.

Shoes should be normal running/walking shoes that lace tightly.

Remember whatever you wear, it will get wet and muddy!!

The Route is wet and muddy!!  Will there be a place to clean off after the race?

Yes, there will be hoses available at the finish line for participants to rinse off.

Also, we HIGHLY encourage you to bring a change of clothes as you WILL be absolutely filthy at the finish line.

We will have male and female changing areas.

You will be close to your car to get your belongings.

 

Is this going to be difficult?
The route can be as challenging as you want it to be.

You can run, walk or crawl! It is wet and muddy!!

All obstacles have been designed with safety in mind.

Any obstacles you feel is too difficult for you, you can pass.

There will be stewards at each obstacle if you need assistance.

 

 Is there any water available along the route?

Yes, there will be water and refreshments available along the route.

 

Is the Race timed?

No, B Wildered is the ultimate fitness challenge.

 

Can I dress up?

Yes, it’s all up to you! Prize for the best costume!

 

BBQ

There will be a BBQ in the farm yard after the event. All participants will receive a free burger and refreshments.

Start & Finish Areas:

Start Area:

  • Only Competitors are allowed in the start area for all events
  • Respect the local environment and do not litter

Finish Area:

After you cross the finish line, a volunteer will place a medal around your neck

Food and Entertainment will be available.

Medical assistance will follow the racers, coming in with the last competitor and will then be available at the finish line

Rules and Guidelines

  • Once entered no refunds, transfers or credit can be offered for cancellations for the events.
  • There are no road closures, competitors must follow the road traffic laws.
  • All competitors must follow the prescribed route.
  • Obey the environmental policy.
  • Any competitor found littering by race marshals or fellow competitors can be reported and disqualified.
  • Respect the local environment.
  • Assist any persons who are in difficulty and report it to closest race marshall
  • The Race Director’s decision is final.
  • Competitors must be over 18yrs to take part.
  • In the event of inclement weather the organisers have the right to alter the route on the day of the event

 

Envoirnmental Rules Policy

Glanageenty, Ballymacelligott is one of the most spectacular location and we are very fortunate to be able to encompass this terrain in our route. It is the objective of all competitors to leave it the way they find it and ensure adventure racing is an environmentally sustainable sport.

We are extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to hold the race in the Glanageenty Walkways and we are sure it will be one of the elements of the event you will remember.

We aim to minimize the impact the race has on residents and families in the proximity of the race route. We appreciate fully their cooperation in the running of the event.

It is of paramount importance that all competitors respect the following environmental policy:

  • Competitors must keep to the defined route and do not take short cuts.
  • Any competitors found littering will be automatically disqualified.
  • Respect the environment.
